| So as usual, it has been a while. There hasn’t been anything out of the ordinary going on though. However, I am having an amazing summer! J My summer started off with leaving my job at the daycare, then spending a week in the Dells with my parents, sister, and roommate. My cousins, aunt, and uncle also met us for our last few days. We always have so much fun there and the time goes by too fast. I came back from the Dells to start my new nanny job. I am taking care of twin three-year-old girls. They are so cute. The parents are just absolutely amazing. They treat me soooo well and I am so blessed to work for them. Basically all I have to do is take care of the girls. I have to vacuum the family room once a week, dust once a week, unload the dishwasher daily, and fold the children’s laundry. (It doesn’t take me long at all to do any of that). So when my kids are napping for 2 ½ hours, I am allowed to do whatever the heck I want to do. (Usually I spend the time reading). However, I am not used to not working for my money and it has been making me feel kind of lazy and like a bad employer. I mean, I just like to work for my money. So I decided yesterday that when Lisa (my boss) got "home" from work, I was going to ask if there was any other things I could do to help out. Before I could even ask her, she said, "Jill, I just want to let you know that Barry and I notice the little things you do for us too like putting the kids laundry away or bringing in the garbage cans. I just didn’t want you to think that those things go unnoticed because believe me, we notice it and appreciate it so much". Ok, those things take me two minutes to do and are not an inconvenience at all, yet I can’t believe how much she appreciates it. What a wonderful family! So after she said that, I was telling her that I don’t feel I do enough and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help out and don’t ever hesitate to ask me but she said she doesn’t want me to do anything else. My kids start school in a few weeks. I don’t think they are going to like it at first, but then I think they will grow to love it. (They are just not used to being away from home all that often so that will be a change for them). Oh, the reason earlier I had Lisa coming "home" from work in quotes was because she works in the basement so she pretends she goes to work but really is in the basement all day. The other day, Lindsi wanted to go play in the basement and I had to run and stop her as she was already on her way down the steps. That would have been bad! If you live in the area, you probably know that two of my closest friends are Tobi and David. (for those of you who do not know them, they are roommates and live in Germany. They both are spending a year and a half here for work). Tobi goes back to Germany in September and David goes back in March. I’ve had a lot of good friends from different countries over the years, and I knew when I met them it seems like they would be here for a while but at the same time from past experience, I knew that the time was just going to fly by. I am really not looking forward to saying bye to them as they are just such great friends. I can’t believe Tobi leaves next month already. It really hits me when I am trying to make plans with Tobi (for example, I wanted to invite him to a baseball game but then I realized he probably won’t even be here for the date I chose). It’s awesome having so many friends in different countries but at the same time, I hate having to always say goodbye to them! It will be extra hard to say bye to these two guys I know! But I will just have to enjoy the time I have left with them and know we can keep in touch. Other than that, not too much is new around here. I have to go get some stuff done around the apartment now. Hope everyone else is having a great summer! | | |
| So I thought of two more stories.... A few weeks ago, my neighbors rented a car that they were thinking of buying. Well low and behold, their three year old son is in the backseat and what does he find? A loaded gun! Luckily, he gave the gun to his uncle and he was ok. It could have been so tragic. It turns out some 71 year old guy saw the news segment and called to claim that it was his. Also, my cousins' neighbor's house exploded the other day. The fire started in her garage. It turns out that a raccoon started the fire. How crazy is that? The lady is ok though. She wanted to go get out her car but her neighbor wouldn't let her. Three minutes later, her car exploded. I thought it was weird because once my cousin in MN had his neighbor's house explode too. Except in his case, it turns out the neighbors exploded the house on purpose in hopes to get more money back to rebuild a bigger and better house. How dumb is that? My cousin's house was so close to their house that his house could have started on fire too. They did have some damage actually. (the family said they were going on vacation a few days before the house exploded so at first everyone was glad that they were not home but it turned out that other neighbors saw them moving all their furniture and everything out of their house a few days prior to their "vacation". Anyway, Heather is stopping by so I should end this. | | |
| Wow, I haven't really written on here for awhile. I have nothing terribly exciting to say, but I am just loving life! I am so glad I got to see Brie and Jim not once, but twice while they were here! It is always so fun to see them!! :) A few weekends ago, Heather, Justin, David, and I were going somewhere and we hit the car ahead of us. We didn't hit them hard though so we were all ok. Then six days later, Leanne, Lysa, and I were driving somewhere and someone rear-ended us. So I got a taste of both sides of it. Everyone was ok then too although this time the accident was a little more forceful. Tonight, Leanne and I drove to Justin's house since we couldn't get ahold of him at all yesterday or today. We wanted to check up on him. He wasn't home but he called us a few minutes later so all is well with him. Anyway, Leanne and I just wanted some adventure so we decided, why not drive to the Dells. We ended up having to turn around half way there and come back home. Tobi and David wanted to go see Spiderman 3 with us tonight. But first Dave had to go say bye to a friend who was going on vacation or something. Tobi wanted us to come over and visit with him beforehand. So we did....we were there visiting when Tobi mentioned that Dave had called and said he hit a deer. Leanne and I wanted to go check on Dave, (he hit the deer on Bluemound...well actually I guess the deer hit him which reminds me of a Gilmore Girl episode from when I used to watch that show). Anyway, Tobi came too and we found Dave pulled into a parking lot with a cop. Their car (it is a company car that he and Tobi share) is sooo messed up. The whole side of it is just a mess. Dave is ok though, thank goodness. The deer I guess was just laying dead in the middle of the road so the cops had to of course move it out of the way. I am glad that didn't cause more accidents since it was dark out and all and I am sure you can't see it that far ahead in the road. So then we got to the movie tonight, at the new theater which has valet parking, reserved seating, someone playing the piano in the lobby, etc. and there were no seats left except the seats in the way front. So Tobi and Leanne decided to leave so then just Dave and I ended up staying. We already paid our $9.50 and our eyes adjusted after awhile so it was all good. Movies are so expensive now a days!!! So after the movie, we went back to Dave and Tobi's and then Leanne and I headed home. Work is going well I guess. I am trying to maintain a positive attitude. I probably don't sound too convincing when I add in the "I guess part". I really do love my kids though. Considering they are between the ages of 2 and 2 and 1/2, they listen pretty well. Well most of them anyway. This one five year old girl who stopped to visit us was talking about her heritage. (This is one smart girl). Someone said "you're Scotish, right?" She said "yes" and then another coworker said, "I thought you were Italian too" to which she replied, "no, I'm Germantown". What a cutie! She reads so well for her age and she wants to be an astronaut. How cute! Our kids were learning about different emotions/feelings and we were holding up happy faces, sad faces, etc. We had a sad face and we ased a child what makes him sad and he pointed to another child and said "Isaiah makes me sad". Isaiah did not agree with him at all either. Oh my goodness, Isaiah is another smart kid for how young he is. We want him to be moved into the three year old classroom because he is not getting challenged in our classroom. He is just too smart. I don't know...I guess that's all for now. I never really organize my thoughts on here, I just type away. So sorry if it is hard to follow. Oh, I am excited for the middle of June though. My parents, Jodes, Leanne, and I will be spending a week in the Dells again. It will be a nice little get-a-way. Heather and her family will come for at least part of it too. I can't wait! :) | | |
| Wow, what a weekend! On Friday, when I woke up, I walked into the kitchen to find a note from Justin. Then I realized there were notes all over from all my dear friends! I have the sweetest friends ever! Thank you, thank you, thank you! J I found notes in my cereal, in my car, on the couch, etc. The last note I found was under my pillow right before I went to bed from Dave! In the evening Justin and Dave joined us for dinner which was a lot of fun. (Eating Brianna’s delicious chicken recipe which everyone loved…and yay, I didn’t ruin it this time by adding 10 times the amount of garlic needed). After that, I went home to watch "Facing The Giants" with my parents and Jodes. On Saturday, Leanne, Jodes, and I spent the day pampering ourselves by getting our hair and nails done. We also went to Piggly Wiggly for a cheese festival. Then we had a game night at our parent’s house. Well, meanwhile the blizzard had started so we had a HUGE snowball fight. It was great! Then we decided to walk to Justin’s in the blizzard and when we finally got there, and he wasn’t home, we had to call Jodes to pick us up. It was sure fun to play in the snow though. I think that was the best snowball fight ever! Dave, Billy, Andy, Sami, Leanne, Jodes, and I ended up getting stranded at our parents’ house for the night. Oh my goodness, I almost forgot the funniest part! So, we (us girls) were all sleeping in Jodi’s old bedroom. All the sudden I wake up in the middle of the night from someone screaming in our room at the top of her lungs. The next thing you know, we are all screaming at the top of our lungs! Surprisingly, none of the guys who were scattered around the house nor my parents woke up from us. Anyway, the first thing I remember thinking is "what is going on" and it was pitch dark and I couldn’t see anything. I (still being half asleep) thought I was going to have to call 911 because I thought something was seriously wrong with one of my friends. Well, it ended up being Leanne screaming at the top of her lungs because she was dreaming that a sheet was suffocating her. She then jumped up and was trying to pull Jodi's blinds down thinking that was the sheet. Seriously though, we were all so panicked as that is what happens when you wake up from someone screaming at the top of her lungs! Anyway…..this morning when Leanne and I woke up we were busy shoveling our driveway. We were plowed in sooo bad! Then we scraped off everyone’s cars. Well at this point in time, Jodes, my dad, and Dave were also helping us. Then we all had breakfast together. Leanne and I just got home a bit ago and had to shovel a place for her car too which got stuck. What a weekend! It was so great though. Thank you to all my dear sweet friends! J | | |
| Tonight's story is about ants. So I am sure we all know about our first night in the apartment when Leanne and I ran a quick errand and came home to find 100 + ants on our kitchen floor, mainly on a noodle that fell on the floor. Between the raid, ant traps, and terminex man, we have not seen many ants. However, the other day I was at work and came home to find a cough drop wrapper on my floor. Now mind you I do not leave wrappers on my floor but Misty was at the apartment (my parents and I have joint custody of Mist lol) and must have stole it. Anyway, there were three ants on this wrapper. I was disgusted thinking ants must be all over my carpet. Plus, the other day, I was sprawled out on the floor and within a minute, I had a bite on my neck. (I think it was a spider bite). Soooo, I thought there must be bugs all over the apartment and I needed to investigate. I decided to focus on the ants. After Misty was back at my parents, I placed a tootsie roll sucker on the floor. Then I thought when I was at work, if we had a major ant problem, they would all flock to the sucker. (Side note, I didn't waste a good flavored sucker on the ants, it was that gross new flavor). I was kind of afraid to get home and find the results. But...................there was not one ant on the sucker...or so I thought. I picked it up to throw it away to find three ants on the wrapper.....but I can't complain about that. So I do not think we have a major ant problem afterall. However, Jodes and Leanne didn't think it was the best idea that I put a sucker down because they thought that would attract new ants but I thought that would have attracted ants we did have. Tonight, Leanne, Heather, Crystal, and I dressed up in costumes and brought bags and went trick or treating. It was fun to see how people reacted since it is not October! :) Well I should get to bed eventually since I have a lot to accomplish tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a fun-filled weekend! | | |
